In this case before the Supreme Court of India four appellants who were dismissed from the Army after being accused of using fake relationship certificates to get recruited. The appellants claimed that they were recruited under the general category and did not submit any relationship certificates. The Tribunal and the authorities did not consider this explanation. The court found that the recruitment was open to the general category and that the appellants were not required to submit relationship certificates. The court also found that the authorities did not consider the appellants’ explanation that they did not submit relationship certificates. Because of this, the court ruled in favor of the appellants and ordered them to be reinstated with all consequential benefits.
